2025 Day of Service and Remembrance Administrator Statement

September 11, 2025

On this National Day of Service and Remembrance, we honor the cherished memory of those who died on September 11, 2001, those who survived, and the many who selflessly responded to these tragic events twenty-four years ago. We also remain steadfast in our commitment to help the thousands of responders and survivors who face 9/11's ongoing health consequences every day.

Today is a day of action through community service, healing, and renewed commitment to the thousands of 9/11 responders and survivors who continue to bravely face the lingering health effects stemming from that day. Their courage and selflessness are a testament to the best of the human spirit and remains a source of inspiration for our nation.

The World Trade Center (WTC) Health Program team is privileged to serve the survivors and responders whose health continues to be affected by the events of that day. We provide no-cost WTC-related health care for over 134,000 members, many of whom face ongoing physical and mental health challenges related to their 9/11 exposures.

This year, we are continuing our efforts to develop a Youth Research Cohort to better understand the long-term health effects on individuals who were 21 years old or younger at the time of the attacks. This important initiative seeks to address the unique needs of those exposed to 9/11 toxins at a young age. We invite eligible individuals to learn more and consider participating.

On this 24th anniversary of 9/11, let us recommit ourselves to the values that have inspired generations of Americans: compassion, solidarity, and the unwavering commitment to support one another in times of crisis.

These values drive our Program's mission to deliver compassionate, high-quality care to those impacted by 9/11. By continuing this work, we honor their resilience, sacrifice and legacy.
