Requirements

To apply to PHIFP, applicants must:

  • Meet the educational, informatics, public health, and research experience requirements as described on the eligibility page.
  • Be willing to commit to a two-year, full-time fellowship.
  • Be willing to relocate to where the assignment is located.

  • Application period opens at 8 a.m. ET.
November 1, 2025
  • Application period closes at 11:59 p.m. ET.
  • All applications and supporting materials must be received by the deadline. Late applications will not be accepted.

November 2025-January 2026

  • PHIFP screens applications for eligibility and quality.

January-February 2026

  • CDC host sites contact and interview PHIFP applicants.
February 2026
  • CDC host sites make final selections.
  • Applicants are notified of their status.
March-July 2026
  • CDC onboards accepted applicants.

August 2026

  • Accepted applicants begin their CDC assignments.

September 2026

  • New fellows complete a 2-week orientation with PHIFP staff.
